American Apparel® at Ignite 2026
Some nights feel curated.
IGNITE 2026 at the Grounds of Alexandria felt impossibly cool from the second you walked in — the kind of night people talk about long after it’s over.
Our POV: Smoke hanging in the air. Red light bouncing off concrete walls inside the venue. Cameras flashing. People packed shoulder-to-shoulder. Everywhere you looked, the whole space felt alive. Universal Music Australia went all out this year. And honestly, it showed.
Hosted by media personality Bridget Hustwaite, IGNITE is Universal Music Australia’s annual International Artist Showcase Series, part of a global UMG initiative designed to introduce priority breaking artists to new audiences and markets around the world.

Now in its fourth year, the event follows the hugely successful 2025 showcase, which featured breakout performances from Olivia Dean, Siena Spiro, and Sebastian Schub - artists who have continued to build major momentum globally since appearing on the IGNITE stage. And if this year’s lineup proved anything, it’s that IGNITE knows exactly who’s next.
Violet Grohl opened with a raw alternative rock sound that felt gritty, emotional and completely unapologetic. Guitars cut through the smoke-filled room while the crowd slowly pushed closer to the stage.

Then came Devon Again.
Honestly, 'force of nature' feels like the only way to describe her. Blue locks flying everywhere, jumping across the stage like she was having the best night of her life, Devon Again completely shifted the energy in the room. Her sound blended dark alt-pop with indie and electronic influence, delivered with this chaotic coolness that somehow still felt effortless.

And then KATSEYE closed the night exactly how you’d expect. Full pop spectacle.Sharp choreography. Huge energy. Hyper-pop visuals everywhere. Phones instantly in the air. Bright pink lighting cutting through the venue while the entire room moved together.
Different artists. Completely different sounds. But that’s what IGNITE does well.
It brings together emerging artists shaping culture from different directions and throws them into the same room. Indie. Pop. Alternative. Fashion. Music. Merch. It all overlaps.
In the middle of all this, American Apparel® stepped in as the official merch partner. Exactly where we belong.

Once the performances wrapped, the whole place erupted. The record station opened. The merch started moving. Crowds instantly gathered around stacks of vinyls and rushed towards the American Apparel® setup. Tote bags filled with exclusive pieces, IGNITE water bottles and heavyweight essentials disappeared quickly throughout the night.Because when the merch is good, people know.
For IGNITE 2026, we printed exclusive merchandise on the American Apparel® 1301GD Garment Dyed Heavyweight T-Shirt and the RF498 ReFlex Pullover Hoodie. Pieces built properly and made to actually last beyond the event itself. Not throwaway merch but the good stuff.
The response throughout the event was immediate. People pulling hoodies over their outfits straight away. Carrying the totes around like collectibles. Taking photos in front of the merch wall before even checking what was inside the bag. That’s always the goal. Create merch people actually care about.

More than anything, it felt good being part of a night dedicated to celebrating the next wave of global talent before the rest of the world catches up. That overlap between music and culture is where American Apparel® has always existed. Not standing outside culture trying to force relevance. Actually inside it. Supporting artists, creators and communities while it’s happening.
And nights like IGNITE 2026 are proof of that.
